16 April 2012: Workshop Leila Jaffar in Brussels

"The Unspoken: The effects of non-verbal communication in a diverse organization"

Non-verbal communication and the way it influences how you see others and how others see you. How to manage and improve your non-verbal communication skills.

In this interactive session Leila Jaffar will share her experiences on the huge effects of non-verbal communication with the participants. She will show how culturally different forms of non-verbal communication deeply affect collaboration, customer relations, negotiating skills, styles of management, internal careers and inter-personal relations in general. Leila will show with many examples how non-verbal communication affects relations between men and women and influences hierarchical relations. And she will show how attendants can manage and improve their non-verbal communication skills

============================================================

Scientific research shows that only 30 percent of total human communication is made up of verbal communication. The rest is non-verbal communication: body language, intonation of the voice, gestures, breath control. In this session Leila Jaffar will show how culturally different forms of non-verbal communication deeply affect recruitment, collaboration, management, mutual perceptions, internal careers and inter-staff relations in a diverse organization. And she will discuss the importance of awareness of the huge influence of non-verbal communication, particularly at the level of management and recruiting staff.

Leila Jaffar will come with numerous examples, drawn from her 30 years’ experience as a trainer with Dutch organizations, ranging from schools, to the military and Dutch government ministries. She will show photo’s and video fragments and she will engage in an interactive dialogue with the session’s participants. Leila Jaffar is a highly dedicated and professional trainer who is intimately familiar with both western-European as well as Mediterranean and Arabic societies and cultures.
